Colonel Brian E. Delahaut: Vice President

Colonel Brian E. Delahaut was born on 4 November 1956 in San Francisco, California. He grew up in Los Angeles, California and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.

Upon Completion of the Basic School in 1981, he was assigned to Pensacola Florida for Primary Flight and Helicopter Training. After being designated a Naval Aviator in 1983, 1st Lieutenant Delahaut was transferred to Marine Corps Air Station, Tustin and assigned to HMT-301 for initial CH46E training. Upon Completion of his training,1st lieutenant Delahaut was assigned to HMM-764 prior to be assigned to HMM-268 where he served as the Ground Training Officer.

After completion of his 1st Deployment 1986, Captain Delahaut was selected to attend the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course at MAWTS-1 and was designated a Weapons Tactics Instructor (WTI). In addition to his WTI duties Captain Delahaut attended the Naval Safety Officers Course in 1987 and served as the Squadron Safety Officer.

Prior to his 2nd deployment with HMM-268, Captain Delahaut was transferred to 1st MEB as the Air Officer for planning and execution of amphibious exercise Kernel Blitz. Upon returning to HMM-268, Captain Delahaut assumed duties as the Assistant Operations Officer. Upon returning from his 2nd Deployment in 1988, he resigned his commission to join his family’s business

In September of 1990, Captain Delahaut joined HMM-764 at Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro as an Operations Officer and WTI. In November of 1990 he was mobilized in support of Desert Storm and served 6 months on active duty. He was de-activated from Active Duty in March of 1991. He then attended the Reserve Officer Amphibious Warfare School in Quantico Virginia course in 1993. In 1995, he left HMM-764 with over 3800 hours of Helicopter and fixed wing flight hours

Major Delahaut joined 1 Marine Augmentation Command Element (MACE) in 1996 as an Augment Officer to I Marine Expeditionary Force (1 MEF) in the Fires Section. He has held various billets as an Augment Officer to include Liaison Officer to the Coalition Land Force Component Command in Korea, Current Fires, Force Fires and Current Fires Watch Officer for 1 MEF and Planning Officer for 1 MEF. During this assignment Major Delahaut deployed to Korea seven times in support of Operations Team Spirit and Ulchi Focus Lens.

On 28 October 2002, Lt Colonel Delahaut was mobilized for active duty and served nine months as the Current Fires Officer for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force during operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom in both Kuwait and Iraq.

As the Current Fires Officer, Lt Colonel Delahaut was responsible for leading five officers and four enlisted NCO’s and Staff NCO’s in the task of targeting and battlefield coordination within the I MEF area of Operation. His billet responsibilities included coordinating air strikes with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and Coalition Aircraft in Support of long-range targeting and close air support for Marine and British Forces in Iraq. In addition, he was responsible for all coordination of artillery mission within the 1st Marine Division and 1st United Kingdom Division areas of operation. From 19 March to 28 May 2003, he personally was responsible for execution of 1232 missions in support of Marine Corps and Coalition Forces.

After his return to Ready Reserve, he continues to assist the members of the Force Fires Branch at I MEF in the further refinement and development of procedures for the Fires Section to include assisting in the writing of the Joint Doctrine for Time Sensitive Targeting, Battle Training Laboratory for systems training of I MEF personnel and the writing of a Battle Handbook on the operational use and targeting through the use of the Automated Deep Operation Coordination System (ADOCS).

Col Delahaut transferred to become the IMA Det OIC of the Marine Corps Base Operations and Training Branch in Aug 2004-2008. As the OIC for the Operations and Training IMA detachment, Colonel Delahaut has been responsible for the overall training and continuity of operations within the Marine Corps Installations-West Command Center at Camp Pendleton.

Col Delahaut Transferred as the IMA Det OIC of the III MEF Augmentation Command Element in Okinawa in May of 2008 where he oversaw an operational planning team of 50 officers and enlisted that support exercises throughout the year in the Pacific Theater. On October 1, 2011 Col Delahaut effectively retired from the Active Reserves after 30 years of commissioned service.

His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Iraq campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal

Col Delahaut lives in Irvine, California. He has two children.
